The therapeutic benefits, for children who have experienced childhood trauma or adverse childhood experiences, of engaging with animals is well documented. This Cardiff based charity has used 1910 Trust funding to support a dog walking project at a main steam Cardiff school for an entire year. 12 of the school’s most challenging young people have participated in the sessions and progress is being made for the organiser to build trusting relationships with these pupils to support and develop their physical and emotional well being.
“The funding is really going to help some young people who would otherwise have never received such support.”
