“In the three months May / June /July we have held two communality family fun days:
- June fun day – 77 children plus 180 adults.
- July 15 – 55 children plus approx. 150 adults
At the fun days all food and drinks for children as well as all the activities are provided free of charge. These
include such things as: bouncy castles (we have two – one smaller for indoors and a larger one for outdoors),
craft activities, nail painting, football, table tennis, face painting, table tennis.
To help and develop the fun days we have purchased new equipment: table tennis equipment; football kit and
equipment, craft equipment so that there are plenty of activities for as big a cross section of ages and interests as
possible.
Both days saw the hall full and the grounds outside used by children and families. Our Café 3:16 provided the
food and refreshments and during the afternoon there was a short Gospel presentation for the children. The
events usually last 2 hours with our team of volunteers working before and after setting up and clearing away
and looking after all the activities and overseeing safety and welfare of everyone.
The feedback we have from families is always positive and we have developed a good rapport with the
community and we have regulars who come along over and again to the fun days. The events are advertised at
our Café 3:16, through posters and flyers that are given out and through social media which we find is the most
effective as it then gets shared widely throughout the community.”
